Responsible Travel

At Handun Villas, we are aware of the economic, ecological and ethical impact tourism can have on a community, which is why we are dedicated towards adding value back to the community in Talalla that has given us so much in turn.

By offering our guests a series of family-based activities that range from painting the village school, to providing children with new school books, we give you an opportunity to leave a positive impact upon the lives of local residents and experience the simple charm of Sri Lankan village life first hand.

Sri Lanka has been identified as one of the largest plastic waste mismanaged country’s in the world. Therefore, Handun Villas & restaurant have taken a pledge to ban all “single use plastic from our Villas & restaurants”.

We encourage all our Valuable customers to support us in our “No single use plastic policy” inside and outside the villa.

CSR

Environment

We are passionately committed towards sustaining the ecosystem within which we operate. Our garden is diversely populated with trees and herbs that provide shelter and sustenance for all manner of local wildlife which you can enjoy while unwinding in our eco-friendly garden & pool.

We prefer to use organic waste as compost in order to minimise the use of harmful chemical fertilizers in the area. Additionally all toiletries provided by us are made out of natural ingredients and stored in glass bottles in order to cut down on plastic waste.

Community

We ensure that the community prospers alongside us by hiring staff from the village, of which at least 30% is female. Food is sourced from our in-house farm and most of our products are purchased from local vendors and entrepreneurs.
